Joshua’s Birthday Party

2 Posts for one weekend! And 3 birthdays in 4 days… Chris celebrated on the 29th, I on the 30th and Joshua turned one on April 1st.

Joshua and his parents Ana and Ahmos

Leilani discovered this cool car and Mommy had to push her around the table (round’n’round’n’round in Leilani’s words) [Daddy did his share of motoring too].

Leilani is constantly working on her molars, and when she finds icecubes she chews them. Isabella in the background probably still remembers her own molars coming in..

The party hosts have kid of their own, a week-old baby goat.

Birthday

For my birthday we went camping to Salt Pond near Hanapepe from Friday 3/30 to Sunday. We had great weather, unlike the rest of the island, unfortunatelly Leilani was still a little sick, and I got her cold too. We had way too much food and beer, but bravely we managed to finish most of it.

We left Leilani with Adam and Aditi (and of course Jaya) and went to the orchid show…

Andy calls the top orchid “Kauai daffodils”

…and to a used book store where we bought books for Leilani and admired the 3 cats [Andy says having special new books for the children was a really good move, it helped keep them quiet]

We got back to the campground just in time for the sunset over the island of Niihau, 30 miles away.

Our campsite, which Andy thinks is quite ideal, one of the best on the island.
