Flower Power

Leilani has a new hobby – one that keeps her occupied for a long time, and really results in beautiful bouquets:

I found a bag of silk flowers on a yard sale and wanted to make a wreath. When Leilani inspected the content, she found the green florist’s foam and asked what it was, so I just stuck one flower in to show her. She sat down in the middle of all the flowers, and sang and hummed while making her first arrangements, all color coordinated, and twice after she went back and made 2 more.

Makana Concert in Hanapepe

2 Weekends ago, on April 5th we went to Hanapepe again, to hear (and see) Makana.

After the concert Leilani and Elsa rode the stroller

…to the firestation

…and climbed up a tree (with a little help)

My birthday at Saltpond

Like last year we spent my birthday weekend camping at Saltpond. As usual we stuff the car as full as we can – and then strap the kayak to the roof.

Raya and Jaya came to visit with their dads, and then we went out for dinner – to Bobbbies in Hanapepe, a very local place, great food although a bit on the greasy side.

Alain, Carey and Raya had just come home from Disneyland, Andy is borrowing the Rasta-Mikey hat

We let the girls ride on the carousel in front of the Hanapepe Big Save

What a surprise – a cake! And a real good one too!

Leilani loves to pick flowers

We went kayaking up the Hanapepe river

No Leilani paddle backwards!

Our campsite

Good morning everyone!

Raya came to visit a second time with Carey

Carey practiced the “Shaka” with the girls

I’m cold. Don’t take my picture. I am hiding!

“Look Leilani, there is a whale…” Andy thought I did permanent psychological damage to her by lying to her about the whale… but it made her look. By the time the photo was taken she already knew she had been tricked and frowned

Last photo before we took down the tent – well before Andy took down the tent – Carey, Raya, Leilani and I spent that time at the brew pub in Waimea.

Bicycling, cousins and junior truckers

Andy’s cousin Liz and her husband Loyd came to visit us

Leilani still loves books – her recent favorite is the “Popcorn Dragon”

We got a used bike seat for $20 – and added one more thing to our cardio-portfolio :-)

Leilani loves tatoos. She started out with little cute Nemos, Dolphins and Hello Kitties and moved on to Thomas the train, then some Beetles and bugs, but now she arrived at the full sized trucker tattoos – last weekend at Saltpond some of the locals asked us if it was a real tattoo!!!!

Easter 2008 – At Auntie Joy’s

As soon as the bells rang the kids ran out to pick up the gifts, and the parents ran to film the kids…

Leilani had a relatively small basket and stopped even before it was full to inspect her stuff and eat the candy—I guess she’s still cannot delay gratification. When I asked her she simply said “I have enough, I am done.” (But changed her mind when she heard that a Nemo egg had not yet been found and ran back to look some more)

Mmmh, chocolate…

Lollipops – even better…

So, what did you find, Jaya?

Inspecting the loot

Joy is teaching them to act in a play—Leilani plays the birthday girl, and has quite a few lines to say. I’m going to film it and post it on the blog, it was too noisy during the one at the Easter party.
