Random Photos (2/2008-8/2008)

I found a few photos that I thought deserved to be on the baby blog…

Kuilau hike we did in February. Thanks Irene for the photos!

Goodbye when I was leaving for the Big Island

Leilani turned her horses into paints and pintos…

Andy and Leilani went to a potluck while I was on the Big Island

Line them all up…

Entropy…

Leilani and Elsa had a play-date, Andy was adventurous enough to take them to the farmers market:

I also heard from a few people that we are not the best communicators… sorry… OK, here is the whole story on the move

Andy is leaving in the beginning of September, housesitting in San Francisco for 5 weeks, while buying a car, looking for a rental. Leilani and I will visit him once there, and start organizing the move from this end. Mid October will be the actual move of stuff, and we will keep the downstairs office – transformed to a small living space.

We will keep the house, garage and downstairs are rented already, upstairs is now for rent on Craigslist
Please tell everyone who you think is interested and will be a good tenant.

Andy’s job will allow telecommuting once he is a prooven worker and a team member, we are planning to be back in 2 years at the latest.

We will have a Good-Bye Party mid to end of October, most likely at Lydgate.

Gaylords Trainride

Tuesday after Tutu and Me we went on the trainride at Gaylords. It seems now we have to do all the stuff we had been meaning to do for a while – it might be a year or two until we get the next chance…

Feeding the pigs was one of the highlights for Leilani:

Note the chicken…

Koke’e, 8/1/08

2 Weekends ago we visited Koke’e. It was Carey’s goodbye camping trip, and for us probably the last Kokee trip in a long time as well.

Rainbow on a Kalo – Taro leaf

The girls met a nice couple, who travelled with lots of ballons, and made animals and flowers for all of them.

Breakfast!

Playing in Carey’s playtent

The girls were posing before the hike. Who is the coolest?

Lots of energy to start out the hike.

Sidetrip to the canyon rim

The better behaved people stayed down while some others climbed a waterfall.

I was among the 66.67% of the climbers who did not fall down the waterfall. Nobody got hurt seriously, luckiely and everybody will be more careful now.

The girls only climbed rocks and trails though.

Sometimes the slid a little

Many years ago Andy and I made this portion of the trail

At the Kalalau lookout the 3 of them checked out this little bridge:

And I scrambled down to get this photo…

Wildlife: Rats, chickens, toads, birds. Pigs don’t come close because they get hunted. I recently learned that there are 400 000 wild pigs on Kauai

Umbrellas are fun…

Yogatime

Elsa was really focused and did yoga with Adam for a long time

Anini 8/9 – 8/11

We spent our second final vacation on Kauai at Anini – for a few it will still come as a surprise, but we will leave Kauai, probably in October. We are planning to be back in 2 years at the latest.

Beach Morning Glory – Pohuehue

Leilani loves to climb now. That was her favorit tree

There was a lot of wind. I think she looks like a wind blown fairy, or an Emily in the front of a Rolls Royce, or a bow sprit carving in the front of a ship

On our last evening we fired up a lot of guava wood that we had brought from home (and even earlier from Ho’opi’i falls)

We went kayaking a lot – in preparation of our final vacation here – Kayak Kalalau

We kayaked up the Kilauea river and then hiked to a beautiful waterfall. We started at Rockquarry beach:
Our beloved A’alapua, who we will have to find a good home for now.

We took a bath en route to the waterfall and I also jumped from a ropeswing – not gracefully enough to post the photo though…

We met Jaya and her family at rockquarry when we came back

Also went kayaking on the Kalihiwai river

Our campsite

Leilani loves the book about Harley the Lama (Thanks Grandma Rosemary)

** Why is your name removed and you are called “Mommy” now????
A: The Baby blog ranks pretty high in google – if I googled myself a few months ago and it came up – in case I ever want to find a job in Corporate America again not the best thing…
