Leilani introduced my mom to one of her friends: “That’s my grandma, and her name is Oma.” For the non-German speakers: Oma is the German word for grandma.
Leilani still calls Andy and me mostly by our first name, very seldom Mom or Mommy / Daddy. A few times she called me “Mother” and it’s German equivalent “Mutter” – but it made me cringe so I asked her to call me Sonja again which she gladly did.
