Old: Rosemary’s Visit, Hula at the Coconut Marketplace

I did not blog for a while… that was in April…

Andy and I went bicycling and found a friendly mule

Lydgate cleared up and stayed nice for the greater part

Andy and Rosemary took Leilani and Eden to see Leilani Rivera’s hula show at the Coconut Marketplace

Look who got picked to do the hula :-)

I forgot where I found this. We did not take it though…

Old: Coco Palms

Back in April we took the Coco Palms Tour. Coco Palms Resort was a resort hotel in Wailua, Kaua’i, Hawai’i. The resort was visited by numerous movie stars and was also the scene of Elvis Presley’s film Blue Hawaii. The resort has been closed since being hit by Hurricane Iniki in 1992.

Children of the Land Summercamp

Fire dancing with poi balls and the fire knife, singing, chanting and dancing hula, haka and Tahitian – what fun! During the camp they also learned instruments, drums, nose flute and ukulele which they demonstrate at the hoike and luau as well.
Of course they also practiced other Polynesian arts for example planting kalo (taro) and identifying native and canoe plants, and Polynesian fun like hiking, swimming and relaxing at the beach and riverside. The children learned a few words Hawaiian and Tahitian, a few songs and chants, and created beautiful drawings and other art. They visited a farm, the humane society and several tourist attractions and parks. Leilani loved the camp!

Summer Fun

The Land Flowing with Milk and Honey

Leilani read the Story of Moses and the Israelites in the desert. The story was talking about the country Moses should lead them to. I asked Leilani whether she knew which country they were talking of as the promised country. “Hmmm… Canada?” she guessed.
