St Andreas Church in Piber

Near the Piber horse farm is a little church. The oldest part was built in the Romanesque style in the middle of the 11th century, but parts are gothic and the inside and steeple baroque.

This is the oldest part.

Lipizzaner Horses in Pieber

The Piber Federal Stud (Bundesgestüt Piber) is the breeding farm for the stallions used by the Spanish Riding School.
A pretty walk around the castle (which was actually a cloister) brought us to the entrance, we booked a tour while Leilani played at the playground.

First thing we saw on the tour were the foals

The most interesting part I thought was the blacksmith, but no photos… and we didn’t photograph the stallions in their boxes either. I hope they let these poor horses out into the fields, once in a while, I felt pretty sorry for some of the old guys.
2 gentle mares were out and allowed themselves to be petted.

Almost better than the horses… a suspended treehouse

Leilani’s Sewing Projects

Leilani went to a sewing camp and made a quilt, a matching pillowcase, a dawstring bag and a pincushion.

We noted that everyone matched except Bennu. Leilani laughed, squeaked and called Bennu the “odd one out” – he understood it was an insult and ran off right after.

She also hemmed one of our beach blankets, that had been chewed on by rats.

She draws cute tigers.

Leilani! Please spell it Peace!
