\nThe crowds were unbelievable – I had never seen Hanalei that busy

\n<\/p>\n

Julian had talked us into participating just the previous night – without much of a plan we started:

\n
\nWhen it looked a bit plain we started dribbling it with sand and water, we thought it looked really cool.
\n
\nMany children stopped to tell us they thought we had made the best castle on the beach.
\n
\nFinishing touches
\n
\nUnfortunately most adults either thought it was creepy or overlooked it completely… To us it was beautiful.
\n<\/p>\n

Leilani built her own minicastle
\n<\/p>\n

I was very proud of the moat, and it can’t be seen on any other photo
\n<\/p>\n

The competition made great things too:
