So far the only constant word Leilani says is Nenenene(…), which means “I am hungry”. We are not quite sure why she picked that word. I often used the German word “essen” – to eat, when talking to her, especially when I want her to eat rather than play and look around or fall asleep, or telling her I am going to feed her. Since she can not say “s” yet, maybe she just takes the ending of the word “en” and keeps repeating it. Or maybe she just said it coincidentially once before I fed her, and she figured if it worked once it might work again…<\/p>\n
Booboobooboo(…) means “I am upset” most the time and is often mixed with Dldldl. Her voice also gets a very shrill urgent tone if she is upset, and before she really cries there is often a very high pitched sqeaking, that sends parents scrambeling to fix the situation. When she is happy she also produces some pretty shrill sounds, but these have more of a singing quality.
