Last Sunday Andy had his first scheduled Sierra Club family activity – cleaning up Anini Beach. Unfortunately nobody signed up, but we went anyway, collected 2 bags of trash – that was all there was! I think Anini is the cleanest beach I’ve ever seen.
We didn’t stay long after that, just had a quick picnic and fed the cardinal, it was really cold and windy, and Leilani’s ears felt like little icicles.

Letzten Sonntag hatte Andy seine erste Sierra Club gesponsorte Familien Aktivitaet, den Anini Strand saeubern. Leider hat ausser uns keiner mitgemacht, aber wir sind trotzdem gefahren, haben 2 Saecke Muell gesammelt. Das war alles was da war, Anini ist der sauberste amerikanische Strand den ich je gesehen habe.
Wir sind dannach nicht lange geblieben, nur fuer ein schneles Picknick, es war windig und fuer Hawaii sehr kalt, Leilani’s Ohren fuehlten sich wie kleine Eiszapfen an.

Urban is a big word on Kauai. And Andy says Urban Explorations usually start by climbing down into a drain… Anyway, we went to Lihue with Leilani, and walked around in some Rice street neighborhoods, had excellent Chinese food, and finished the day at the Marriott, she really enjoyed seeing the koi and birds there, the waterfalls and Tiki torches.

Grosstadt ist ein grosses Wort, besonders auf Kauai… Wir waren in Lihue, spazierten entlang der Rice Street, hatten ausgezeichnetes chinesisches Essen, und beendten den Ausflug beim Hotel Mariott, wo Leilani im Garten die Koi Fische, Wasservoegel, Wasserfaelle und Tiki Fackeln bestaunte und bewunderte.
