British Columbia: Up the creek.

While it does not show on the photo, the formerly crystal-clear creek is heavily polluted wit toxic mud, running off a fracking fracture.

British Columbia: Farmtour

British Columbia: House, and nearby animals.

Morning view from our room

Everybody got a turn to milk the cow. Leilani was really good at it.

I wasn’t… but I tried making cheese from it.

Daisy was hand raised and bottle fed. She thinks she is a horse.

Tinkerbelle is the friendlier milk-cow

The Gypsy Vanner yearlings Shanti and and one of the adults, Bella or Dice.

The bull realized that there was a grain bucket…

They realized they were too late.

Ocean is another yearling, but he chews manes (and my hair) and has to be kept separate… so he decided to follow the kids around, who went to feed the chickens. He managed to get into the chicken pen, here he is being coaxed out again.

They have 2 super-cute foals. The moms and another mare are living with the stallion Gondor, who is very friendly.

Free range kids

Sadly we did not get photos of ducks or geese andthe rescue-chickens – instead of heritage breeds they get the year-old layers from chicken farms that don’t produce enough for the factory-farm, but still lay more than an egg a day per chicken!

British Columbia: Berries

Our friends took us to a secluded berry patch, driving there was really beautiful

Fresh from the farm dinner in the mobile home

We picked 13 gallons of berries (and for a later post I also documented the jam-making process)

British Columbia: The Travel

The evening before we left we had what looked like a reverse sunrise – this is looking east at the time the sun set (invisible for us because behind Nounou mountain)

After a red-eye we watched a beautiful sunrise over the South Bay (Alvisio I think)

After a layover in SF nice views of the city and the bridges

Arriving in Vancouver. We had a 6 hour layover and decided to visit.

Leilani drove the train

We had a really good lunch
