Lazy Monday

After 3 months of working on the house and yard, we had a house re-warming party. But that’s another long post with lots of photos. After the party, we feel we can take time to go to the beach (yesterday) and relax around the house (today).

Leilani and I (Andy) sat on the porch and watched the birds at the birdfeeder. There is a fledgeling sparrow who is so unafraid of us that it lands on the lanai while we are sitting there. We actually have to chase it away, so the cats don’t get it. Today, it flew up to the railing, and let Leilani get very close with her camera:

Then a very nice neighbor we met at the party brought Leilani a bag of craft supplies. Inside were some fabric crayons, and I said “let’s make a shirt.” Leilani remembered that she had a white t-shirt for tie-dying that we could use for a fabric crayon picture.

Leilani drew a beautiful picture of a mermaid, a fairy, and a unicorn pegasus on a piece of paper, and then was very excited as I ironed it onto the shirt. She wanted to wear it right away, and I just had to take picture.

And because this is a relaxing, easy holiday, I even had time to put it on the blog right away.

Milestone!

For the first time ever, Leilani took a book, and started reading a story to herself. She kept reading for over 15 minutes (the whole thing has over 100 pages), the only bad thing about it was that she’s reading on the toilet… It is an older beginner’s book Dr Seuss style, just the right difficulty that she can figure out all the words by herself but the story still is fun.

Leilani’s Art at the Garden

We had nobody to watch Leilani, so she came along for the later part of my gardening class. She took off with the iPhone. Her photos are different now…

She picked this leaf off a pigeon pea, took a few photos, pot it into her hair, posed and demanded her photo to be taken, Then she photographed it one last time and moved on

Nounou hike and at home

I paid $800 for power washing (to the same person that had painted latex over oil, if you’re on Kauai ask me who not to hire) and had to redo quite a bit of it. Fortunately a friend loaned me the power washer.
