Although Sonja doesn’t like big hotels we decided to stay at the Circus Circus in Reno. Leilani very much enjoyed the Circus and the Arcade games. (And I have to admit the Sushi was excellent)
Mid January Oma’s Christmas Gifts arrived (because after Americans feel threatened by mail from Austria and either reject it totally, or deliver it with month long delays)

Long time ago I published a similar photo I had taken of the same rainbow, cropped and enhanced. I’m proud to say that this one, taken by Leilani is uncropped and unenhanced…
Leilani helped us to weed and pulled up this sorrel. She was fascinated by the root knots of the sorrel. We assume that the sorrel – related to clover – is a nitrogen fixing plant and this is a nodule, but have not been able to verify this.

She allowed this book, a former favorite to be given away, as she is too old to still play with it, but took some photos before she did.

We have a Sycamore tree (Plantane) in front of our house. And like all good communities (unlike Gleisdorf) San Bruno cuts these heavily. One day we came home to find out beautiful tree crippled. Leilani cried. (Mutti would have rejoiced :-)
Squirrly doesn’t come to visit anymore, we still see him running back and forth on the wires, but without the tree he can’t come down. But as soon as the tree was cut the crows came and pecked at the stump. Leilani was fascinated and took a lot of pictures:
Leilani doesn’t just photograph Jojo, she also takes pictures of Mikey. Not as many, not as dressed up though…
