Clarkia Anemona – “Farewell to Spring” is one of my favorite flowers. Even more of them on this post

Leilani and Ana playing in the tent

Beautiful foxglove growing at our campsite. I was actually impressed with the number of really toxic herbs growing there – poison hemlock, digitalis, 2 kinds of nightshade and a few others less deadly ones

Hiking was slow, breaks were many, but everyone had lots of fun

Andy calls them Lyfs

Blackberries on the way out

Looking back

Well maybe I was not current. Current except for the forgotten blogposts. Anyway… I found these…
In July we went backpacking in Alder Camp, off Waddell beach, part of the Big Bassin State Park Leilani played at the trailhead while we got ready

This butterfly – one of many seen at the stream crossing – is called a Mourning Cloak

Just when we had put up our tent 2 families with hirls Leilani’s age showed up. Instantly they started playing together

Everybody had brought a book, so there were a lot of goodnight stories

I finally took Leilani to see Wicked. And Sophia came along. We took BART to avoid parking nightmares and because kids love public transportation

Later we went to a playground nearby

Cat decorating is still big

Come on! Snowwhite… I am a cat

Yes Mikey… it can get worse

But it is hard to do something new with feet…

these are scratched…

Oh, wait…

And then of course self portraits…

Plants…

We had a long discussion about this picture and she won

Mikey is obviously not the only one who gets decorated to be more photogenic :-)

She draws hibiscus really well now
