Booth Napa State Park – Saturday

We went camping for a 3 day weekend to Booth Nappa State Park

On a hike we found a cool watertank

…and lots of ladybugs

Not one of Leilani’s greatest shots…

Lots of tan oak, strange fungi growing on their leaves

and big acorns…

…and of course mushrooms. Photo safari only, it’s a state park. We did not find a pound of chantrelles and we did not eat them.

Trametes

Witche’s butter

and Violets

Leilan iand Andy were assembling the stove

Booth Napa State Park – Sunday and Monday

Quiet morning at the campsite (before Leilani decided to throw a tantrum or two or three)

We still went to the Sonoma train town. Leilani got a lot happier there.

Here she is on the train with her friend Belen

Leilani, Kelby and Belen in the Spinner

The next day we went on another hike, and Leilani rested next to an abandoned house at an overgrown fountain

No, not in Austria

I tried to figure out what this was but could not – some sort of pitcher plant, but it does not seem to be something that usually grows wild or native in California

This one is easier: a Trillium.

The Brain

L: “[talks a lot]… my brain …[talks a lot]”
S (bored) : “Leilani do you know where your brain is?”
L (proud) ” Yes, it’s in my head!”
S “What do you do with your brain?”
L “I think.”
S “What else?”
L “I forget.”

The Castle

(yes, I did help with the castle)

Great Parenting Moment

Andy: “Leilani, can you cry with your mouth closed so I can brush your front teeth?”

(and she did)
