Elsa’s 3rd Birthday

Elsa’s birthday started as a pool party. We had barely walked into the door, when Leilani took off all her clothes. Fortunately we hadn’t forgotten her bathing suit.

Heaven, Elsa, Leilani and Halea in the pool, Allie in the background.

I painted them, and the kids all loved it.

Kuilau Hike 4/19/08

Saturday we hiked the beautiful Kuilau trail:

We found lots of Timbleberries. Leilani loves them.

The trail is the pettiest easy hike on the island I think.

Facepaints

We got some facepaints and that was my first try…

Oahu 4/08

Like most of our trips we went camping – Aiea heights has a great campground, close to the airport, close to downtown, but pretty rainy. This time we only had one rainy night though.

Leilani is very cuddly lately

Most of Saturday we spent at the children’s museum.

Leilani likes the caleidoscope, and she called her reflections “All my friends…”

One of her favorites was this rabbit cage. She made sure the bunnies had enough carrots to eat, and tried to rescue them from other children who put them on a leash. Interestingly she went to the birdcage, and took all the birds out and proclaimed that birds do not go in a cage, they should be free…

Firefighters are a big hit, since she played with Makanakai 2 weeks ago.

We went to a little beach near Ala Moana in the late afternoon

AT an Indian restaurant (India Cafe, good but too greasy) we discovered that curl…

She loves too ride escalators (still calls them alligator though)

Our main purpose of the trip: The Academy of arts Bhutan exhibition. Unfortunately it was not allowed to photograph the exhibition, but that’s what the outside looks like:

Leilani loves the colorful prayerflags

The only photo we managed…

Monday we went hiking. We, especially Leilani hoped to find an old airplane crash site. She was disappointed because we did not see the broken airplane, and then launched into a long story how Makanakai knew exactly where the airplane had crashed, and that she wanted to ask him but was too afraid and shy to do it…

Munday afternoon we went to visit the Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe

It has an enormous Buddha statue

Leilani enjoyed feeding the animals almost as much as chasing them.

Flower Power

Leilani has a new hobby – one that keeps her occupied for a long time, and really results in beautiful bouquets:

I found a bag of silk flowers on a yard sale and wanted to make a wreath. When Leilani inspected the content, she found the green florist’s foam and asked what it was, so I just stuck one flower in to show her. She sat down in the middle of all the flowers, and sang and hummed while making her first arrangements, all color coordinated, and twice after she went back and made 2 more.
