Jaya spent the afternoon with us at Lydgate and we went to their house in the evening. It was Nikolaus day, so they were anxiously waiting…
Day: January 2, 2011
We went to Lydgate, and Andy played with Leilani and her friends while Sonja got to chat
Birthday ice cream at lapperts
Randy has models of the big island now
Birthday dinner at the Oasis. Leilani wanted more chocolate ice cream for dessert while Andy and I opted for lilikoi creme burlee and banana springrolls… in the end Leilani liked our dessert a lot better and I think ate most of mine.
We started packing and organizing early
And then realized we had not taken pictures of our pet chickens. We had fed them every day, and Leilani named that one Spotty. Spotty came running when we called her, and to beg for food she sang softly. Really. Not quite like a singing bird, but for a chicken it sounded really very nice.
That, as you can guess, was Blackie
and Brownie
or maybe that was Brownie
Leilani wrote and drew a letter to Jaya. The letter had started on a tax form, in the tax office, and continued with lots of tears, when I’d talked to the pesky lady and ignored my precious child who needed help writing… When she didn’t get it she proceeded to throw a tantrum that made other people walk out of the tax office. Anyway, she finished the letter later, and I calmed down again (eventually)
We flew to Oahu, met Francine and Clay.
