Henry Coe Backcountry Weekend: Saturday

Chinese Houses (Collinsia heterophylla Figwort family) in front of beautiful Poison Oak

Ella and her parents joined us for the first part of our hike to Mustang Peak

Shay knows a lot of stories about Thomas the Engine

Grass Nuts AKA Wally’s Basket, Ithuriel’s Spear (Lily Family, Triteleia laxa )

Shay, Ayelett and Ella were not prepared for such a long hike and turned around.

Horned lizard. The horned lizard is popularly called a “horned toad,” “horny toad”, or “horned frog,” but it is neither a toad nor a frog.

Yes, I stalked him and trampeled some wildflowers. Why?

Sticky Monkey Face Flower and Indian Paint Brush

We reached Mustang Peak and had lunch with Lisa, Clay and Alan.

On the way back the group split, Alan and I went the longer way via Purple Pond trail and Duch trail and the rest of the group went back to where we had the cars and drove back to the campsite. Below is Purple Pond

The evening light was beautiful (once I stopped worrying that we were on the wrong trail…)

Good night Leilani…

Henry Coe Backcountry Weekend: Arriving

We were 1/2 an hour late, but the nice volunteers still let us in

Dressup, Madeleine and the Last Easter Bunnies of the Season

Grandma Rosemary made beautiful new outfits for Madeleine

Leilani still loves the little Gym. Here on this photo, a few weeks ago she wa anxiously waiting for her class to begin. I did not sign her in for the summer and fall sessions, because I am still so angry at her for being so slow and missing half the class the previous time (2 hours for lunch and getting dressed)

She loves to play dressup – Oriental Princess (probably Jasmine)

Here she is a Hula dancer

We made Gingerbread Easter Bunnies

Jumping on the trampoline

Maurice and Marianne

Pachelli’s Gym Playdate

We went to a playdate at Pachelli’s Gym in Daly City

The kids played on and under this colorful parachute:

Leilani’s Art 4/09

The age of the turtles (or turtles vs tortoises?) I asked Leilani what it was: A turtle class learning about dead animals (frogs). She went on to explain that they cut the frog open to see the inside, but Andy stopped her and did not want to hear anything else.

Still life with easter bunnies

What is this???

Above and below Leilani’s carpet from 2 different angles

Of course the mandatory feet photo
