Chinese Houses (Collinsia heterophylla Figwort family) in front of beautiful Poison Oak

Ella and her parents joined us for the first part of our hike to Mustang Peak

Shay knows a lot of stories about Thomas the Engine

Grass Nuts AKA Wally’s Basket, Ithuriel’s Spear (Lily Family, Triteleia laxa )

Shay, Ayelett and Ella were not prepared for such a long hike and turned around.

Horned lizard. The horned lizard is popularly called a “horned toad,” “horny toad”, or “horned frog,” but it is neither a toad nor a frog.

Yes, I stalked him and trampeled some wildflowers. Why?

Sticky Monkey Face Flower and Indian Paint Brush

We reached Mustang Peak and had lunch with Lisa, Clay and Alan.

On the way back the group split, Alan and I went the longer way via Purple Pond trail and Duch trail and the rest of the group went back to where we had the cars and drove back to the campsite. Below is Purple Pond

The evening light was beautiful (once I stopped worrying that we were on the wrong trail…)

Good night Leilani…
