Anini February 2012

January and early February

A beautiful daygecko moved in next to Andy’s office.

Back then the Poinsettas were really beautiful.

I made some crafts

… and still have a lot of letters left.

We wanted to pick up trash, but that was a habitat.

we set them free again.

Leilani and Julia played at Lydgate

One of the last riding lessons with Alissa.

Old Photos

From left: Franz (Sonja’s dad), Grete (Sonja’s Grandma), Franz (Sonja’s grandpa), in front of him Sonja standing, Klaus on the Gocart, far right Franz (Sonja’s great-grandpa).

From left: Sonja’s great-grandma Emilie Knappe, her daughter (Sonja’s grandma) Gertrude Koenig (and no, that’s not my mom’s maiden name, but thanks for noticing) holding Sonja, then Gertrude (now) Weidacher, and her sister Jutta Koenig

First Communion (I was _very_ catholic at that age, more so than anyone else in my family)

Health

Leilani saw her pediatrician Dr eveslin on 1/10/12 for the yearly checkup and her weight was 40.5 pounds, height 44 3/4 ”
She was healthy, except for a yeast infection on her scalp and a lot of common childhood warts (Molluscum contagiosum).
Now that I have been gluten and dairy free for 2 months I will probably try to put her on the same diet to see if that helps.

IT and plumbing

No, this is not about Leilani, but maybe it will make a few of my old friends who read this laugh, at least if the remember my job as data-janitor at Sun.

There is a letter to Dear Abby today, stating: “…there is actually a shortage of skilled tradespeople these days. IT jobs pay well and are constantly in demand. As my grandmother used to say, Everyone needs a plumber when the toilet’s clogged.” (I’m not making it up, go to DearAbby.com and select today’s date)

And it goes on…. And Dear Abby answers. Although I must say, they were not talking about Information Technology, but Internet technology: “…cosmetology or skilled trades, such as Internet technology and carpentry…”

The sad part is, it is fully true, and the pay shows it. If I’d outsource the few web design projects I have it would cost me about $1000 for a guy in India full time for a month, and everyone but me seems to do it too. On the other hand if I’d hire a cleaning lady for an hour a day for a month I’d pay $1000 (inc. tip, exc. Sundays).
