Our neighbors showed us their gutter garden, and Andy made one for me for mother’s day. Mostly from recycled / reused materials, I was very happy with it:
It took a while to get it planted and going, but that’s what it looks now:
Very smart. I like your Gutter Garden (GG) design. Like you, I also use small pots (mostly 4″) to grow in,rather than pouring potting soil directly in the gutters. For succession planting and easier maintenance, I figured that was the way to go.
My basic GG design is up and running and I’m quite pleased. The wife and I have lettuce, chard, spinach, strawberries (not ripe yet), parsley, mint … oh, and flowers to add color. Living in the Southwest, I should be able to grow my greens all winter. Next phase, and I’m very close, is to add auto-watering, storm and wind protection.
Sincerely
It’s a great thing. Ours is in use for 1 1/2 years now and has produced lots of veggies and starts. The auto watering is my favorite feature…
